Capable women and men emerge, small and medium-sized companies at the forefront of new information technologies, scientific research, and the green economy, occupying prominent positions on the local and international scene. Sardinians established in Europe and Asia. Quo vadis Sardinia? There is no clear horizon. We live on daily swabs or summits in Rome. And in such a sad reality, ideological tightrope walking is in fashion. Illusions have collapsed, in recent years the Island has not allowed itself a single smile. For every hundred euros we collect, we send 82 back across the Tyrrhenian Sea. We are heterodirected at school and at the supermarket. The enchantment of our beaches creates petrodollars in the United Arab Emirates. Europe gives us money but we don’t know how to spend it. Why so much incompetence? The Sardinia of private virtues is unable to create a system. The strength of individuals clashes with collective weakness. What is missing is a modern weaver capable of bringing Sardinian know-how to a synthesis. But it must be found. If anything, by calling for the return of the many capable Sardinians scattered around the world. A counter-exodus of intelligence and skills. More than yesterday, the scepter must be given to those who deserve it.”
