#ABRUXAUS (POSTCARDS FROM SARDINIA)

It is a project born as an Instagram page that ironically denounces the annual summer chronicle of fires in Sardinia. The title in Sardinian is a curse that can be translated as: “May you burn alive”, referring to arsonists. The fires are only a part of the numerous problems of the island, a place that is remembered only in the summer months and where everyone hopes to spend a dream vacation in complete relaxation.
It is a work in progress because unfortunately the theme of arson is a recurring global plague. A way to reflect on the relationship between man and nature. The society of spectacle, of consumption, so poured upon itself and thirsty for ephemeral and imminent pleasures, creates a worn-out environment. This specularity reveals the soul of the capitalist society into which we are thrown.

The photography exhibition opens on Thursday 2 August at the Jerzu library with a presentation by photographer Francesca Pili and journalist Claudia Carta.
