Ura Teatro

Ura is the Albanian word for bridge: the isthmus that connects the land, the stories, the peoples.

The URA Teatro Cultural Association was founded in 2015 by Fabrizio Pugliese and Fabrizio Saccomanno who had met 15 years earlier working in a permanent theater and in various other realities. Ura Teatro deals with: live and children’s entertainment; promotion of theatrical activity; narrative theater on the national territory and beyond; pedagogy, high-level training courses, artistic – laboratory activities also for schools and for the vulnerable groups: minors at risk, women victims of abuse and mistreatment, the elderly, prisoners, disabled, ethnic minorities; enhancement and management of spaces for artistic – cultural activities; theater reviews; organization of study conferences on theater and other artistic forms; implementation of national and international projects.

It has a peculiar form of theatrical pedagogy: the community-theater that is the rediscovery of memory and creative act of the present. Ura Teatro has always paid great attention to the story of the territory, keeping alive the memory of places and people and personalities of the land of Puglia through theater, art, words and music. And to do so, Ura Teatro puts into play numerous and continuous collaborations with different realities of the territory, from private entities to the public, from trade associations to numerous artists present in the territory of Puglia and nationally.

The first works of the newly founded company are Per Obbedienza, winner in 2015 of the festival ‘I Teatri del Sacro’ in Lucca and GRAMSCI, Antonio called Nino who obtains excellent recognition at the festival of Arzo (Ch) and at Start-Up, an international theater showcase in Taranto.
Gramsci wins the Critics’ Award at the Palio Ermo Colle in the summer of 2017, and in the same period is selected by RadioRai3, scheduled in Matera and broadcast live as part of the Festa di Materadio within the program Pantheon directed by Lorenzo Pavolini.

At this moment Ura Teatro has 17 productions between new shows and repertoire that it circulates throughout the national territory obtaining an excellent response from the public and critics.
Some of the shows of Ura Teatro boast the collaboration and co-production of Teatri Stabili, recognized companies and public and private entities.

Fabrizio Saccomanno is the author, director and performer of the show VIA – epopea di una democrazia, about the tragedy of the miners of Marcinelle. He is co-author and performer of Iancu, un paese vuole dire, written together with Francesco Niccolini. Although these are narratives, with Via and Iancu Saccomanno also performs abroad, in many countries.
