Teatro degli Acerbi is a professional theatre company that has been operating in the field of popular research theatre for over twenty years (since 1998), in the Asti area, regionally and nationally, constantly strengthening its artistic and planning identity.
It deals with the production and circulation of theatre shows, with educational activities carried out within schools, for adults and specialist activities for operators in the sector, with cultural planning, with the organisation of events: reviews, festivals and theatre seasons.
Since 2013 it has become a theatre cooperative.
The members of the Company deal directly not only with the work on the stage in the strict sense (interpretation, direction and staging), but also with the planning, conception, promotion and organisation of theatre initiatives born and consolidated over the years, as well as theatre training. The stable core of the cooperative is often joined by local artists and collaborations with Piedmontese and national artists and companies.
It is supported by the Piedmont Region through the Regional Law n. 11-2018 (ex regional law 68 -1980) on the professional activities of prose theatre and collaborates with the main regional bodies and institutions including the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo – Circuito Regionale Multidisciplinare, the Fondazione Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani del Piemonte.
Since 2022 it has been part of TING, Network of Theater Innovation for New Generations in Piedmont, sharing the common goal of spreading the culture of making and seeing theater for them: with Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo and Fondazione TRG Onlus, TING is committed to designing “Theater Itineraries for New Generations”, sharing the common goal of spreading the culture of making and seeing theater.
In 2018 it was among the companies subsidized by the FUS (Single Fund for Entertainment) for the development of the special project “A Teatro con gli Acerbi: dall’Atesana al Mondo”. It is still ongoing and focused on popular research theater, from the exploration of the human landscape of the Astesana hills to a new identity and relationship with the public.
Since 2021 it has been recognized among the companies subsidized by the FUS (Single Fund for Entertainment) as a production company of innovative theater in the field of experimentation.
