Author, actor and theatre director, Mario Perrotta is considered one of the most significant voices in the Italian theatre scene. His dramaturgies with a strong civil impact, directed and interpreted by himself in Italy, are translated and staged abroad in various languages and in important contexts including the Festival d’Avignone and the New York Solo Festiva Festival (Award for Best Foreign Drama in 2018).
A finalist ten times at the Italian theater Oscars, the Ubu Awards, he won in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2022 as an interpreter, playwright, and director of projects involving hundreds of artists. He also won, among other awards, the Hystrio Award in 2008 and 2014 as Best Show of the Year, while in 2015 he won the National Critics’ Award for the Ligabue Project. In the Name of the Father, of the Mother, of the Children (2018-2021) is the theatrical trilogy dedicated to the key figures of millennial families, with Massimo Recalcati as a dramaturgy consultant. The first two chapters debuted at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan: In the Name of the Father was a finalist at the Ubu Awards as Best New Text and Dei figli won in the same category in 2022.
