Cada Die Teatro was founded in Cagliari in 1982 and since 1987 has been recognized by the MIC as an innovative theater production company in the field of research and experimentation. For many years it has resided at the Vetreria di Pirri, a former glass factory, which has become a cultural center of the city of Cagliari. Cada Die Teatro is mainly concerned with the promotion and development of artistic expressions, in particular all forms of scenic art and theatre. Produces, sets up and performs shows. Organize workshops, seminars, courses.
The production of shows which have earned the company numerous awards over the years is accompanied by the work of organizing festivals and exhibitions:
Capitani coraggiosi- theater season dedicated to children;
Stagione La Vetreria – contemporary theater review;
Festival dei tacchi-Ogliastra Teatro theater and nature project in Ogliastra;
Transistor – festival for the new generations;
Terza ora: theater – review for high schools.
Cada Die Teatro, working for a theater that was as close as possible to reality, identified the centrality of the actor as the main element of its theatrical poetics. A path that meant dealing with strong themes, close to one’s own experience and roots, in an attempt to combine popular theater and experimental theatre. The experimentation of new scenic languages that speak to the present, the care for the actor’s work, the interest in oral narration, have characterized the artistic path of these years. A poetic continuity that can also be seen in theater productions dedicated to children and young people. Through the universal language of the fairy tale, we work on stratifications of meanings, which can be grasped at various levels of depth and which do not speak only through words and concepts, but through images, symbols and archetypes.
In 2001, to crown its first twenty years of activity, Cada Die Teatro obtained one of the most prestigious national awards for Italian theatre: the Critics’ Award awarded by the National Association of Theater Critics.
Training activity is another important part of the company’s work; the organization of workshops and seminars in schools or other structures has been accompanied since 2003 by the creation of the School of Performing Arts, which welcomes around a hundred students of all age groups: children, adolescents, adults. Since 1999 it has promoted the Migrants project aimed at vulnerable groups of young people and adults with physical, mental and social problems characterized by laboratory activities, staging of shows, organization of seminars and conferences also in collaboration with bodies, territorial institutions and associations.
Operates in other social sectors by promoting activities in prisons, hospitals, social centers and mental health centers.
