The word Myth comes from the Greek mythos which means story. Ascanio Celestini has always told stories. Even before he was born, because it was his father and before him his grandmother who told the story. Celestini collects stories and leaves a memory of them. He is capable of listening to many and distilling one collective one.
In the reading “Le Nozze di Antigone”, accompanied by Gianluca Casadei’s accordion. The text is his personal rewriting of the tragic heroine Antigone who here becomes an everyday figure, but one worthy of being told. Actually, no, because she is the one telling the story and so the Roman actor gave voice to a woman. Who takes care of his father Oedipus, a great walker with many mismatched shoes in the house, who has now become ill. The reference is to the original Sophoclean tragedy (Oedipus with swollen feet, Oedipus who escapes from Corinth and arrives in Thebes, blind Oedipus assisted by his daughter/sister) but everything is brought back to the present and to the recent history of the Resistance and the world war. Because stories have no time and are intertwined in oral translation.
