Just outside the city, a young man lives in a cave; he barely speaks and reluctantly comes out of his hiding place. Who is that wild boy and how did he end up there? This is what Rolando Piras, a clumsy journalist looking for promotion in Sardinia in the late 1950s, asks himself. He sees in him the scoop that will bring him the glory he so longs for. But Toni, the boy from the cave, has a very different story to tell: he is one of the few survivors of the terrible bombings that razed the city to the ground during the Second World War. Through his twelve-year-old eyes we relive that unexpected and furious firestorm, which tore away everyone’s relatives and friends. Toni and Rolando Piras could not be more different, but their meeting will have unexpected consequences, for both of them.
