Avvicinamenti

ROSSOLEVANTE

Because whoever remains far from his Origin
always seeks the time when he will be reunited there.

The souls descended to earth from the Father’s House with a ladder, which was then withdrawn. Now from up there the souls are called back to their homeland. Some do not move from their place; how can one go to heaven without a ladder? The others make a leap, fall back, make another leap, fall back again, and give up. There are, however, some who know well that they will not succeed, but they try and try again anyway until the Father catches them in flight and pulls them up. (M. Buber, Stories of Chassidim)

An “en plein air” and itinerant show, built on some of the most fascinating stories of Islamic mysticism (Sufism) that intertwine with the stories of the Hasidic tradition (Central-Eastern European Judaism) and the songs of Cuban popular religions (Santerìa, Regla Espiritista, etc.). Avvicinamenti is also a journey of listening and opening to the enchantments (colors and sounds) of the natural beauties and sites chosen and visited from time to time. A show born from the Polish “paratheatrical” suggestions of the Seventies and from the research on Performing Arts carried out in the “Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski” in Pontedera.
Given the nature of this work, the dimensions and morphological characteristics of the areas used from time to time, Avvicinamenti is a work that can be enjoyed by a limited group of individual-spectators.
