Alessandro Berti was born in Reggio Emilia. After attending the Teatro di Genova school, he founded L’Impasto with Michela Lucenti. For the company he wrote and directed Skankrer (1996), Terra di burro (1997), Trionfo anonima (1999), L’agenda di Seattle (2000), Il quartiere (2002). In 2005 he won the Gherardi prize with his Teatro in versi. In 2006 he began research into the relationship between theatre and mysticism, which led to the staging of L’abbandono alla Divina Provvidenza (2009), Combattimento spirituale davanti a una cucina Ikea (2011, Premio I Teatri Del Sacro), Maestro Eckhart (2013), Un Cristiano (2014).
