\nOn October 1, 1964, Mari\u00e0ca Tid\u00f2ngia climbs onto the windowsill of the Tel\u00e9vras school and runs away. Mari\u00e0ca is the daughter of a shepherd and her future seems already marked; nevertheless Marcellino Nonies, a sole teacher in his first assignment, does everything he can to ensure that this extraordinarily intelligent little girl manages to at least get her elementary school diploma. One day, however, Mari\u00e0ca, just fourteen years old, announces that she is pregnant and refuses to say who the father of the child is. Shortly after, she disappears into thin air. <\/p>\n
