Every day they try to make us believe that we are &#8220;civilization&#8221; while all the others, the Arabs first and foremost, are the barbarians from whom we must defend ourselves, so here you go: new wars, increasingly impermeable borders, restrictions, controls, detention and&#8230; Jean Genet with &#8220;Les paravents&#8221; casts a gaze stripped of all hypocrisy on the French war in Algeria, a no-holds-barred struggle between Arab workers and settlers, but in death everything comes together and the enemies discover they are part of a single union. Close to Genet and his provocations, the &#8220;song&#8221; takes shape in the translation, in the elaboration, in the betrayal of a text that surprises for its contemporaneity.<\/p>\n<p>A song for Said goes beyond the Algerian specific by encouraging the spectator, in the context of the performance, to imagine scenarios that are certainly closer to him.
