Teatro Telaio

Founded on December 8, 1979 when it performed The Little Prince, under the guidance of Angelo Pennacchio, the Teatro Telaio has been able to distinguish itself from the numerous companies born in those same years of strong political, social and cultural commitment, becoming a true piece of history of the theater of the city of Brescia.

After a series of shows attributable to the “third theatre” genre, and the organization of internationally important reviews and festivals, including the Brescia section of Sonavan… le vie d’intorno, since 1987 the focus has shifted towards activities aimed mainly at minors and families, with the awareness and conviction that children’s theatre is not a simple and less demanding form of performance, but requires perhaps even greater sensitivity than theatre aimed at adult audiences.

Since 1991, it has begun to distribute its own production of children’s theatre shows throughout Italy and abroad, also participating in numerous prestigious festivals.

In the field of Italian children’s theatre, Telaio stands out for its predilection for poetic and surreal aspects, even when dealing with purely didactic themes.

Il Telaio organizes continuously shows for children and families.
In particular:

since 1998 Storie Storie Storie with school and Sunday events;
since 2000 Il canto delle cicale, a traveling summer festival that moves to a different municipality in the province of Brescia every evening. It is characterized by outdoor shows and in natural locations, to highlight the possible relationships between theater and nature.
since 2015 Palcoscenici Superiori, shows for teenagers and high schools in a foreign language
since 2022 Trame – International Theater Festival for Children and Young People

In recent years, space has been given back to theater for adults, even if theater for children remains the main area of activity of Teatro Telaio.
The activity of Teatro Telaio is complemented by a convinced educational and training work within schools, with teachers, in the social sphere and also with companies. Every year it carries out dozens of workshops in schools of all levels and in extra-scholastic contexts.

Teatro Telaio is recognized and funded by MIBAC and has an agreement with the Lombardy Region. It is a member of ATIG – Assitej and Confcooperative and of the Extraordinario collective, which brings together the main Brescia entities involved in the field of Teatro Sociale d’Arte. In this context, the Ti prendo per mano project should be mentioned, aimed at experimenting with good practices that allow for the creation of theatrical programs that can be enjoyed in an inclusive manner even by children with special needs and autism. In 2018, it received the ROSA CAMUNA 2018 mention for having been able to bring thousands of young children and families closer to theatrical performances. In 2020, it received the Vittoria Alata Award from the Mayor of Brescia on the occasion of the celebrations of its first forty years of activity. In 2021, it received the UNCI 2020-2021 “Città di Brescia” Goodness Award. In 2023 he received the Eolo Award 2023 for the BEST PROJECT dedicated to Tinin Mantegazza for the Arcipelago project.

Kon-Tiki. Un viaggio in mare aperto

TEATRO TELAIO

“Kon-Tiki” literally means “Sun God”. Kon-Tiki is the name of the raft built in the spring of 1947 by the Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl, who set out from the coast of Peru determined to reach the islands of French Polynesia by sea. Without oars, without an engine, using only the sea current, the trade winds and good luck: 101 days on the open sea together with a parrot and five traveling companions who had never sailed before. Thor se...
