Gimmi Basilotta, born Giuseppe, author, actor, director, was born on November 29, 1961 in Cuneo, where he still resides, and has worked professionally in the theater since 1982.

In 1983, together with her colleague Marina Berro, he founded the Il Melarancio Company and took over its Artistic Direction. To date, he has curated the staging of 64 shows for his own company and 22 for other companies. His work is based on the rooting of some firm convictions: believing in Art as a synthesis between thought and emotion; imagining an all-round Theatre, which researches and experiments with expressive and narrative forms in the continuous mixing of languages; understanding the Scene as an opportunity to create a situation of well-being “where actors and spectators in the game of parts share passions and ideas. The production paths that he has implemented over the years therefore respond to various cultural projects within which the Il Melarancio Company has operated and continues to operate.

Since December 2024 he is the new President of the Agis Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta Union.
