The Scimone Sframeli Company was born in 1994 thanks to the artistic collaboration between Spiro Scimone and Francesco Sframeli.
In that year, the two actors, driven by the need to search for new languages, staged the first work Nunzio written by Scimone, in the Messina dialect. The work (IDI “Autori Nuovi” award 1994 and IDI Gold Medal for dramaturgy 1995), proved to be a fundamental stage in their artistic journey, thanks to the encounter with one of the most eminent and authoritative figures in international theatre: Carlo Cecchi. The artist, in fact, directed the show which, with the scenography by Sergio Tramonti, debuted at the International Festival “Taormina Arte”.
In 1997 Scimone wrote Bar, performed together with Sframeli, directed by Valerio Binasco and with the scenography by Titina Maselli. In the same year Scimone and Sframeli won the UBU Award, respectively as “New Author” and “New Actor”. In 1999 the two actors performed La festa di Scimone (Candoni Arta terme award for new dramaturgy 1997) directed by Gianfelice Imparato and with the scenography by Sergio Tramonti.
