We have been an active company since 2003 and are based at both Teaterøen in Copenhagen and Teater Møn. Our artistic project is constantly evolving, fueled by curiosity and the urge to explore the unknown and unexplored. At Asterions Hus we are particularly known for our very physical and experimental interpretations of great tales. We follow our own paths with Homer’s Iliad, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth and our performances are a mix of great storytelling and our own interpretation. We love pathos as much as we love humour. We love an extravagant setting and raw poetry. Over the years, we have developed our own unique and expressive signature based on appetite, joy and the paradoxes of life. We try to make the work balance right on the border between the grotesque and the realistic, the confusing and the easily accessible, the comical and the tragic. The performances do not teach or explain, but rather confuse, tease and suggest. We tour all over Denmark and also the rest of the world. In recent years we have had the pleasure of being in Brazil, South Korea, Canada, Egypt, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Poland, Cyprus, Turkey, Germany, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Greenland, Greece, Scotland, Liechtenstein, Croatia and Austria. Over the years, since 2005, Asterions Hus has received grants from the Statens Kunstfond, several private foundations and the EU.
