Andrea Cosentino

Born in Chieti in 1967, he is an Italian playwright, active in the theatre also as an actor and director. He graduated from La Sapienza University in Rome with a thesis on the “maggi” and the improvisations in ottava rima of the Tuscan countryside, which was later included in the volume La scena dell’osceno, Odradek editions, 1998. As a young man he attended a drama school, but soon turned towards experimental theatre, attending – among others – a workshop with Dario Fo at the Libera Università di Alcatraz in Gubbio. Still during his apprenticeship, he moved to Paris, where he followed the teaching of “gestural theatre” by Philippe Gaulier of the mime and clown school of Jacques Lecoq: this was a fundamental teaching for his future works, in which the story (the verbal exposition of a story) was accompanied by a certain pantomimic expressiveness. He is the author and actor of various solo shows, including ‘La tartaruga in bicicletta in discesa va veloce’ (1998) and ‘Antò le Momò’ (2000).
