Andrea Brunello

Scholar, playwright, director and actor, Andrea Brunello works on the border between theatre and science. He is the founder, artistic and educational director of the Teatro Portland in Trento, and of the Compagnia Arditodesìo. Since 2012, he has also curated and directed the Jet Propulsion Theatre (JPT) project to bring together theatre and science, carried out in coordination with the Laboratory of Communication of Physical Sciences of the University of Trento. In collaboration with the University of Trento, Brunello co-directs the Teatro della Meraviglia, a Festival dedicated to the encounter between theatre and science.

Brunello graduated from the three-year “SCHOOL AFTER THEATRE advanced training program” led by the Russian director Jurij Alschitz and affiliated with the EATC/Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow. From the point of view of scientific education, Andrea obtained a degree in physics and mathematics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Physics from Stony Brook University (New York). Brunello has actively taught and consulted in many scientific institutes and universities both in Italy and abroad and teaches courses in science communication through theater and storytelling at the Universities of Trento and Bologna.
