The workshop investigates the body of an actor divided between everyday life and spectacular acts, constantly seeking a dialogue between the two dimensions of being on stage. The masks of the commedia dell’arte and the variety style will be taken into consideration, comparing these two scenic specificities that have characterized the history of our theater. Totò approached the commedia dell’arte, defining it as a real training ground for an actor who is starting to take his first steps on the stage, while the variety theater was his battlefield for all his theatrical successes.
