BOOKS ON STAGE | GESUINO NEMUS / NINO MELIS

A novel in which the smells, flavors, voices, superstitions and magic of the Sardinian land come together to create a picture of an Italy that reaches up to the present day.

July 1969. During the days of the moon landing, in Telèvras, a small town in the Sardinian hinterland, two boys are involved in a series of mysterious events. Matteo Trudìnu, the talented son of a kidnapper on the run, and Gesuino Némus, considered by all to be mentally handicapped, are best friends. Don Cossu, the town’s Jesuit priest, takes care of them as if they were his own children. One day Matteo’s father is found dead a few kilometers from the town. The investigator is the sergeant of the Carabinieri stationed in Telèvras, a Piedmontese who struggles to understand the logic of the silence that surrounds him, aided by Corporal Piras and Don Cossu. But the mystery deepens even more when, a few days later, the body of a second man is found. A story of mysteries and revelations, in which the smells, flavors, voices, superstitions and magic of the Sardinian land mix together to create a picture of an Italy that reaches up to the present day.
