Crispino is a 22-year-old boy with a college degree. His face resembles that of Jesus. The son of a separated couple, Crispino spent his childhood with his paternal grandparents.
His grandmother, a catechist, and his grandfather, a former union teacher, now retired, taught him everything a good boy needs to know to face life in the best way, while at the same time giving him a good load of guilt. A roof over his head, a fair amount of pocket money, a good Wi-Fi connection, decent and clean clothes in exchange only for the right willingness to listen. To listen to theories: the right theory, the right manual, the right good life.
But as of today Crispino has finally found a job (and according to him also independence), the right one for him, fully accepting the advice suggested to young people of his age by the Minister of Labor of his country: “Don’t be too choosy (selective) in choosing your first job”. He agreed to work as a human scarecrow, for 18 hours a day, in a 4-hectare field, for a salary of 500 euros a month. Crucified like Christ, he wears a jacket with many colored lights, bells and cowbells and guards the newly planted seeds.
“It’s not a bad job, it gives me plenty of time to think and reflect. After all, all I have to do is shout and ring the bells when I see the crows approaching… It’s nice to be in the open air. There are friends who are perhaps busier and perhaps even less well paid than me who are clearly envious. The only drawbacks are the cold wind and the rain.” Crispino, for his choice of life, quickly becomes a symbol for the kids of his city, of his land, of his island… that we begin to see as an enlightened person, a guide, a cook, a witch, a politician, an artist, a guide… from whom to find answers and comfort. A whole series of characters/masks/figures of contemporary society come to him…. Crispino from the top or the bottom of his position/condition tries and tries to give answers: like Jesus from the cross. But someone among his dearest brothers will betray him before the cock crows.
