Domenico Iannacone

Born in 1962 in Torella del Sannio (CB), he began his journalistic career on regional newspapers at a very young age. He was a leading correspondent for Ballarò and Presa diretta (Rai3). He created and hosted the investigative program I dieci comandamenti for seven editions and since 2019 he has been on air with Che ci faccio qui, one of the most followed in-depth programs on Rai3. He has been awarded the Ilaria Alpi Prize five times.
In 2015 he won the Paolo Borsellino Award and in 2017 the Goffredo Parise Award. With the documentary film Lontano dagli occhi he received prestigious international awards, winning in order: the Civis Media Prize in Berlin, the Real Screen Awards in Los Angeles and the Peace Jam Jury Awards in Montecarlo.
In 2018 he won the Spello Film Festival with Siamo tutti matti, a shocking tale of madness. In 2019 the Centro Sperimentale di Cinema – School of Cinematography awarded him an honorary diploma in Audiovisual Reportage. In 2021 he was awarded the Kapuściński Prize and in the same year the documentary film L’Odissea was awarded at the 14th edition of the Moige Prize. In 2022 he is among the winners of Il Premiolino, one of the oldest and most authoritative prizes dedicated to journalism.
His way of storytelling draws inspiration from the best Italian documentary tradition and is halfway between neorealist cinema and journalistic reporting of reality.
