Without any warning, God appears in a supermarket on the outskirts of Rome and announces the end of the world. Through his fault and misfortune, there are very few people listening to him. To take him seriously there is only an amorphous and enervated young man, from then on fatally destined to be the prophet of the end of times. Accompanied by a listless angel of the Apocalypse, the young apostle makes his way into the sinful abyss of the Roman city, to announce to its inhabitants their imminent end. However, the apocalyptic project wanted by God seems to fail. The sad news announced, however, does not seem to shake those who are already dedicated, with mortuary diligence, to their daily extinction.
Apocalisse Tascabile is a heroic-comic one-act play that with theological extravagance recomposes the unhappy mosaic of a decadent and rotten city, a mirror of a deceased human condition. The show deals with the end of the world seen from various perspectives, among which the preponderant one is that of two “discarded” young people, liquidated and cornered because they are useless. The end of the world is therefore almost an opportunity for revenge for them, a revenge taken on the indifference suffered, the change is embodied by the prophetic announcement of these two shrewd apostles under 30 who bring to the scene with self-irony the anger of an excluded generation , so young and already so dead.
Pocket Apocalypse is a double-bottomed show: the end of the world is also the opportunity to reawaken that “weak messianic force” which according to Benjamin is deposited in every generation, waiting to be brought to light to undermine the world.
