Silvia Girardi is a performer and director based in Verona. Her works are performed in theaters, museums, dance and visual arts centers. Drawing on classical and contemporary theater, performance, visual art, dance, she directs original works with a particular interest in the conception of processes and the interrelation of different artistic disciplines. Her work embraces anthropology, science and poetry.
From 2000 to 2012 she lived and worked in San Francisco collaborating with arts organizations, theater companies and foundations. From 2006 to 2012 she directed SGArt, a curatorial project that promotes contemporary Italian art in North America through exhibitions and art gallery exchanges. She has been teaching theater since 1998, holding classes and workshops internationally.
In 2019 Silvia wrote and produced the short film “Loro” with director Riccardo Pittaluga. In 2015, together with director Gabriele Donati, she wrote, produced and directed the short film “Fireflies” and the documentary “Alberi” in 2021 which won the silver star for best documentary at the 2021 Italian Film Festival.
Since 2012 she has been on the faculty of the Scuola Paolo Grassi, where she teaches a program of acting and theater training Devised Theatre. Silvia is an experienced certified yoga teacher and in 2014 she founded Casa Yoga Milano e Verona.
Her work has been presented at Exit Theatre, Foolsfury Theatre, MoAD, Ragged Winged Ensemble, SFMOMA, TJT, ODC, Women On The Way Festival, Berkeley Playhouse, Marin Shakespeare Company, Counterpulse, Brava Theatre, The Garage, Kunst-Stoff Arts, San Francisco Theatre Festival, Red Poppy Art House, Subterranean Art House, Women On The Way Festival, Central Market Arts, Brava Theatre, Noh Space Theatre, Muistardeaux Collective, Teatro Dell’Elfo, Teatro Verdi, Teatro Litta, CRT, Teatro Franco Parenti, Scuola Paolo Grassi.
