Born in Rome in 1953. He attended the Art School and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts, attending the first two years of Prof. Toti Scialoia. In 1975 he began his theatrical training with the Odin Teatret directed by Eugenio Barba in Holstebro, Denmark, and with the Teatr Laboratorium directed by Jerzy Grotowski in Wroclaw (Poland). In 1976 he co-founded the Arcoiris theatre group with which he worked until 1978, the year in which he left for India, where he worked on the Indian dance Katakali, at the Kerala Kalakendram directed by Krisna Nambudiri, with whom he collaborated on demonstrations of Western actor work in some Indian dramatic art schools. From 1979 to 1981 he collaborated on various projects of the Teatr Laboratorium and participated in the project: “Teatro delle sorgente” until the expedition to Haiti directed by Jerzy Grotowski. In 1981 he co-founded the Gruppo Internazionale L’avventura and Il Porto – Centro Di Cultura Attiva in Volterra. In 1986 he participated as an actor in the study Premesse alle Troiane, directed by Thierry Salmon, for the Santarcangelo Festival. From 1987 to 1995 he worked as an actor and researcher at the Center for Research and Theatrical Experimentation in Pontedera, where he took part in the Center’s productions, directed by Roberto Bacci: Laggiù soffia (Ubu Award), Era, In carne ed ossa, Fratelli dei cani, Il cielo per terra, Nostos.
In 1990 he was an actor in the show Sicut et nos based on E non disse nemmeno una parola by H. Boll, directed by Alessandro Tognon. In 1991 he participated in the production of I Cinque Sensi del Teatro in the film La Trilogia, directed by Marianne Arhne, produced by Rai 2. In 1992 he was an actor in the show Don Giovanni by Raul Ruiz. In the same year he was a co-founder of the Auele Cultural Association, with which he produced the following shows: Van Gogh Van Gogh Mouen Dabi, based on Il suicidato della società by Antonin Artaud, directed by A. Tognon, Amnesie, a show for apartments of which he is the author and performer. In 1997 he was an actor in the show Senza diritto d’autore based on L. Pirandello, directed by Silvia Pasello. In 1998 he created with Magda Siti the show Piccolo Pinocchio for nursery and primary schools. In the 1998 – 1999 season, in collaboration with Emilia Romagna Teatro, he supervised the adaptation and direction of the show for high schools Ex Proff based on Lettera a una professoressa by Don Milani, performed by Magda Siti. In the same year, he was an actor in the show Per tre sorelle directed by Sandro Berdini, a reworking of Chekhov’s text by Franco and Francesco Ruffini. Since 1999, he has collaborated steadily with Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione for training activities aimed at actors. From 1981 to today, he has held seminar activities in Italy and abroad: Brazil, Russia, Israel, aimed at both actors and non-professionals.
